Right now, I am a Biostatistics doctoral student at UCLA. My research interests lie with epigenetics, aging, cancer, survival analysis, and hierarchical bayesian modeling. Having worked in biology research, I experienced the dissonance biology researchers have with data analysis and hope to serve as a bridge between biology research and correct, ethical statistics. I received my M.S. in Biostatistics at UCLA in 2020 and intend to finish my PhD in 2023, which is focused on modifiable epigenetic components of aging and methylation imputation. I enjoy statistical consulting with biotech companies and independent research labs; I restructure their research goals into an achievable statistical framework and provide analysis pipelines for their team. Beyond my research at UCLA, I suggested and received faculty approval for a new course, Biostatistics 216, which is now being offered in the graduate course series. This is a specialized course covering topics in Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus and Scientific Computing that are considered to be particularly pertinent for the MS and PhD mathematical rigor.
I graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Biology and a B.S.P.H. in Biostatistics May of 2018. I became proficient in SAS, genetics, and biology research. I taught 5 semesters of a core biology class as a Supplemental Instructor, where I was nominated for a teaching award by my students. I formed the collegiate branch of AnimalKind at UNC. I was Circle K‘s president and former Fundraising Chair. I’ve been recognized through awards, nominations, and articles, some of which can be found at links or images throughout. I was also a member of Blank Canvas, a club for dancers of all skill levels. I choreographed a dramatic, contemporary piece for 20 dancers to Bastille’s What Would You Do. Since undergrad, I continue to dance (but have since changed my style focus to Latin Dance) and teach
I grew up just north of Pittsburgh, PA where I began my commitment to public service. I co-founded Beautiful Beaders, an organization that made and sold jewelry for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
